JAFFNA BOYS
A generation of Tamil youth growing up in post-war Sri Lanka. Ending in 2009, the civil war lasted almost 30 years and became infamous for its high rate of child soldiers used by the Tamil Tigers ( LTTE ). Boys like these were many times forcefully recruited to fight for a separate Tamil state in the North-Eastern part of Sri Lanka, during the conflict known as the "Eelam war “. Now their fight is to overcome the collective trauma from previous generations. Without a direct threat standing in their way they are hopeful, they can see a more fruitful future ahead with new opportunities.
